Mapping your career with the NIH
Please see the link below for information on Harvard Catalyst sessions on "Mapping your career with the NIH". Dr. Henry Khachaturian from the NIH came to McLean last year to give a similar talk, which was extremely well received and informational. Be sure to register if you missed it last year! http://catalyst.harvard.edu/news/news.html?p=3615&title=Mapping+your+career+with+NIH REGISTER EARLY for this event, spaces are limited!McLean Email Transition Important Information
On November 14th, 2011 all Research Users who currently have an account on the McLean Research Email Server will be migrated to the latest Partners hosted system. In an effort to make the transition as smooth as possible we have created a list of facts below. In addition, links to documentation to not only assist with setting up your new account but also to help manage email in general can be found throughout the list. What does this mean to you? 1. There will initially (Not until Nov. 14th) need to be some configuration changes to the email client you are currently using. A Link for instructions on adding your partners account to your email client can be found below. Apple Mail: http://rc.partners.org/kb/show_article.php?id=222 Outlook: http://rc.partners.org/kb/show_article.php?id=224 2. Access to your account via the web will change. The new webmail URL will be http://www.partners.org/email. You will need to use your partners userid and password to access this site. 3. Like all modern mail systems, this new email account will have a quota that limits the size of the email inbox. We have worked with PHS in providing the "research" quotas currently in effect and championed by Research Computing, ERIS. Due to this limitation we recommend storing older email, trails, documents and research data into a local folder in your email client. Below are links to knowledgebase pages describing in detail how to store mail locally. How to Store Mail Locally within your Email Client: Outlook 2011: http://rc.partners.org/kb/show_article.php?id=233 Outlook 2003: http://rics.partners.org/images/managingmailbox/outlook2003.pdf Outlook 2007: http://rics.partners.org/images/managingmailbox/outlook2007.pdf Entourage 2008:http://rc.partners.org/kb/show_article.php?id=229 Apple Mail:http://rc.partners.org/kb/show_article.php?id=232 Thunderbird:http://rc.partners.org/kb/show_article.php?id=231 In addition, for transferring large amounts of data or large files, contact McLean Research IS for the latest methods (https://transfer.partners.org , sFTP, etc). 4. Your current email in your present inbox that is now hosted on the McLean Email Server, Mercury, will remain active until December 1st 2011. We recommend you use this time to move any mail on this server into local folders within your email client, save attached documents to project directories, move to your new inbox, or delete. After December 1st this server will be decommissioned and therefore inaccessible. 5. Your current @mclean.harvard.edu email address will not change and remain your primary "reply to" address when sending out new emails as well as in receiving emails. In addition to your @mclean.harvard.edu address you will also have an @partners.org email Address, with emails sent to @partners.org flowing into the same mailbox. 6. With your new Partners email account you will be able to share your calendar with other employees (Must have Outlook, Apple Mail, or Entourage), have access to the Partners Global Addressbook List (GAL) and add your account onto many different kinds of mobile devices such as; iPhones, Blackberry's, iPad's, etc. Lastly, if you would like assistance with any of these instructions and are located in the MIC building please contact Christina Bonello(cmb@mclean.harvard.edu ) x3368. For all other buildings contact the partners helpdesk, McLean Research IS's first tier of support: 617-726-5085.Federal Grants Awarded in 2010 & 2011

Conflicts of Interest Training Now in HealthStream
Beginning in November 2010, McLean Hospital employees who interact with industry and who may be exposed to potential conflicts, will be required to complete a Conflicts of Interest module as part of their annual refresher training in HealthStream. "Industry" includes pharmaceutical companies, medical device makers, and external healthcare providers such as nursing homes. Partners Office of Interactions with Industry prepared the short Conflicts of Interest course to provide employees with a basic overview of conflicts of interest and potential outside activities risk areas. The module is 18 slides, followed by a 6 question post-test. The training takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. If you are impacted by changes to the Partners/McLean conflicts of interest policies (either because of your role/department at McLean or because you are in a position to work closely with industry), you will soon see this Conflicts of Interest module when you log in to HealthStream. As with your other HealthStream courses, please complete the Conflicts of Interest course prior to your annual performance review. If the Conflicts of Interest course does not appear on your HealthStream .Assigned Learning. list, you are not required to complete the module during this performance review cycle. To access your training course list, please log in to HealthStream (www.partners.org/healthstream) using your Partners username and password. If you have forgotten your username or password, please click the "Forgot Username or Password?" link under the login button. Please contact McLean.s Compliance Officer, Natalie Herron nherron@partners.org (x2598), with questions, concerns, or feedback related to the Conflicts of Interest training course.Important Notice Regarding DEA
It has come to our attention that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), a component of the Department of Justice, has undertaken a new initiative to perform unannounced inspections of research laboratories to monitor compliance with federal licensing and related statutory requirements. The DEA is responsible for providing oversight of controlled substance use in research. Such an inspection has recently occurred at BWH and it is expected that the DEA will be inspecting more BWH laboratories in the near future. It is possible that McLean will also be inspected, so I encourage you to review your licensing and proper record-keeping, storage and destruction requirements with your laboratory. You should take an official inventory of your controlled substances as soon as possible, but not later than November 12th, and retain a copy of this Inventory in a readily available location in your Lab. You should supervise the Inventory taking, and sign the Inventory form, once you are satisfied that the Inventory is accurate. If the DEA Division Investigators come to inspect your controlled substances, you should be honest and answer their questions; however there is no need to provide additional information that is not directly asked of you. You should contact me at (617) 855-2922 for assistance or support during the DEA review or Stan Rosen, Director of Pharmacy Services at (617) 855-3398. Please inform your laboratory staff that the DEA registration holder: either the PI or the PI with participation/involvement from the Pharmacy (the latter if a suffix number has been assigned to the McLean Research DEA license) is the one who will work with the DEA during the inspection and any follow-up discussions. If the Pharmacy has provided the controlled substance, there will be Pharmacy Records AND Investigator records to be reviewed by the DEA.Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)

This Notice applies to the following programs: D43, D71, F05, F30, F31, F32, F33, F34, F37, F38, K01, K02, K05, K07, K08, K12, K18, K22, K23, K24, K25, K26, K30, K99/R00, KL1, KL2, R25, R36, T15, T32, T34, T35, T36, T37, T90/R90, TL1, TU2, and U2R. See link for more information: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-10-019.html Please see following link for information on McLean offerings: http://mclean.partners.org/education/generalMedicalEducation/otherPrograms.asp For more information visit the Research Day page on the BrainWaves site.Faculty, Clinical & Research Fellow Annual Reviews
The PeopleSoft Manager Sheet - the last page of the annual review packet- has been revised to reflect that we have moved away from the rating from 1-5 and that PeopleSoft managers can instead reference "0" in the system. Please be reminded that only the PeopleSoft Manager Sheet should be forwarded to the PeopleSoft Manager and the annual review can be sent directly to HR for processing.Mail Stops
Please use mail stop numbers when sending interoffice mail.
All mail (both interoffice interoffice and incoming mail), should be directed to a mail stop number.
Example:Kevin Kent McLean Hospital
115 Mill Street Purchasing Department Mail Stop 224
Belmont, Ma 02478
Use the words "Mail Stop," not the word "Box." The term "Box" may confuse the Post Office and delay the delivery of the mail.
Helpful Hint: Include your Mail Stop number as part of your e-mail signature and stationary.
